PUBLIC RELEASE Following the resignation of the Minister of Housing Magdalena Matte, the National Federation of Residents reported the following: During 2010, several tables were set work and dialogue with authorities is ... you ministry. In these tables are advanced in some respects and in others the stalled dialogue. In the case of the homeless, it was a series of agreements relevant to our Federation, which should not be ignored, nor are we willing to take a step back. These are: 1) Land Bank: Acquisition direct land in all districts of the country where there is no solution of land for the construction of our homes. 2) self-managed housing Act: Legal Framework issued by the Ministry, with the participation of villagers in their preparation, which regulates the direct and self-organized villagers in land acquisition, project management and execution of works. 3) Pilot Project: Development of a project as a pilot in the commune of La Pintana to demonstrate the best quality and largest self-managed housing produced by the villagers themselves. 4) Direct dialogue with the Ministry and the Federation: Instances of debate, development and participatory decision about the problems of the various groups of the Federation across the country and commitment of the ministry not to issue regulations without consultation with the residents. Regarding the Housing Debtors, the dialogue was cut product that the Ministry was unwilling to compromise with debtors of our Federation. We hope that this new authority will pave to keep talking. In this case we demand: 1) immediate end to the obligation of the mandate established by Decree No. 12 issued on 11 April this year, and incorporation into future solutions for all social housing ordinances. 2) The total remission for families vulnerable of all social housing ordinances, and for those families that do not fall within the vulnerability, which apply to them the benefits established in the Decree. 3) The unconditional debt forgiveness to all those families of earthquake victims, whose homes were damaged, and which are still accruing dividends even though they are unlivable. We hope the new Minister Rodrigo Pérez Mackenna have a constant dialogue, open to those issues where there is still no consensus, and respect the agreements they have reached with our Federation. We report that all these elements have been informed our bases, which remain on alert. NATIONAL FEDERATION OF PEOPLE From the people of Chile, April 21, 2011
